Temperature Sensor

MicroSet has the ability to measure temperature changes simultaneously with rate and plot them both on the computer screen. This will make it possible to study the effect of temperature changes on clocks and watches. (The Atmospheric Sensor will also measure temperature.)

In the graph below, you can see the eight day performance of the pendulum in a Synchronome clock. The red lines represent the rate of the pendulum. The green lines represent the temperature recorded. The temperature fluctuated every day and night, and the pendulum speeded up every time the temperature went down. In this way you can evaluate the temperature compensation of a clock or watch.

The temperature sensor plugs into a special jack on MicroSet. It comes on a six foot cable. Enhancements have been added to the Windows Interface software (versions 2 and 3) to support temperature display. All “modern” MicroSets can be upgraded to work with the temperature sensor. If your timer says “-= MicroSet 2 =-” or “-= MicroSet 3 =-” when you turn it on, you will be able to add the temperature sensor. If your timer says only “-= MicroSet =-“, it is too old to be upgraded.

Windows Software version 2.1 or 3.1 is required to display temperature readings. An upgrade is provided with the temperature sensor if you already purchased version 2.0 or 3.0. Resolution of the temperature sensor is 0.5 degrees Centigrade. This graph displays Fahrenheit.
